MSG Alexander Radke

MSG Radke entered Marine Corps Recruit training in September 24th of 1985. Upon graduation of recruit training December 1985 he was sent to Ft Sill, Oklahoma for instruction as a fire direction control man January 1986.

After completion of training March 1985 he was assigned to 1st Battalion 11th Marines as a Surveyor, during this time he completed one Westpac with 13th MAU with Charlie Battery 11th Marines and was promoted through the rank of Corporal. At the end of his first enlistment, he opted to exit the Marine Corps September 1989.

After an 18 month break in service, he rejoined in February of 1991, was assigned to Headquarters Battalion for training as a combat replacement in support of Desert Storm 91. After hostilities ended, he was assigned to Echo battery 2nd Battalion 12th Marines in March of 1991. During this time he was promoted to Sergeant and completed two 6 Month deployments to Okinawa, Japan. He completed the Operations chief course in Ft Sill, Oklahoma July through October 1992. While with this unit he Conducted Combat Operations in support of Restore Hope, Somalia from December 01 1992 to March 23 1993.

Upon completion of his tour with Echo Battery in March 1994, he received orders to San Diego, California for duty as a Drill Instructor where he spent two years in the trenches training recruits with 2nd Battalion Fox Company. In July 1996 he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 11th Marines as the Survey Chief for the Battalion survey section and was promoted to Staff Sergeant. Serving this billet for 12 months he was reassigned as the Operations chief for Fox battery 2nd Battalion 11th Marines. He deployed twice to Okinawa, Japan for 6 months each, during this time he supported Operations Southern watch, Sudden Storm, Anvil, and Desert Fox.

Upon completion of this tour of duty he was selected for promotion to Gunnery Sergeant and assigned to 2nd Battalion 1st Marines August 1999 as the Platoon sergeant for the 81 mm Platoon. He deployed twice on 6-month deployments. During the second deployment conducted Combat Operations in support of Operation Iraqi freedom. Upon his returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom January 2004, he was selected for promotion to his current rank of Master Sergeant and was assigned with 2nd Battalion 14th Marines, March 2004 as the Battalion Operations Chief. While he has been with 2nd Battalion 14th Marines he has deployed to Iraq for the second time and conducted Combat Operations as a Military Transition Trainer to the Iraqi Army June 2005 through February 2006.

He is married to the former Elizabeth Simpkin, they have two boys Joshua 9 and Zachary 7. His personnel awards include Bronze Star, Combat action ribbon with 3 gold stars, Navy commendation medal with gold star, and Navy achievement medal with 4 gold stars.
