Sergeant First Class Moore's military service began March 1990, when he enlisted in the Army and attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training, Airborne School, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program at Fort Benning Ga. He was then selected to join 3rd Ranger Battalion with a follow on assignment with the 75th Ranger Regiment where he attended schools such as Ranger School, SERE and Halo, as well as numerous overseas deployments. Following his assignment within the 75th Ranger Regiment he served as a Ranger Instructor at 4th Ranger Training Bn. After leaving active duty in 2000, Sergeant First Class Moore joined the Georgia National Guard in February of 2002 and was a member of the Long Range Surveillance (LRS) where he served as a Team leader ultimately deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While enlisted in the Georgia National Guard from January of 2004-2009, Sergeant First Class Mike Moore worked as a Pre-Ranger NCOIC at the Warrior Training Center, Fort Benning Georgia. In May of 2009 he went to work for the National Guard Bureau at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center as the lead Observer Controller responsible for integrating State Department personnel with the military prior to their deploying to Afghanistan.
