Operation Hac Bao South
October 24-26, 2008
The year was 1968...both US and South Vietnamese troops observed the Tet Cease Fire agreement made with the NVA. The streets of Saigon are full of street vendors and shoppers. GIs and their ARVN partners are preparing for Tet dinner parties, front line GIs are relaxed at their base camps. Hundreds of miles away from Saigon at the Laotian border town of Lang Vei, a Special Forces outpost reported tank tracks, but their report was dismissed by the Marine Corps encampment at Khe Shan as 'tractor marks'...Gooks ain't got no tanks!. The imperial city of Hue prepares for the Tet New Year celebration. Students from Hue University are on holiday back home with families, a group of German medical personnel are getting ready to experience this festive oriental holiday... This October, you will relive some of the experiences of Tet 1968 under guidance of the Special Forces legend Col. Paul Longgrear ('Night of the Silver Star' and 'Tanks in the Wire') and the outstanding LRRP man, Sgt. Kenn Miller (author of 'Tiger the LURP Dog' and 'Six Silent Men book II'). Come in your best Vietnam impressions and step in time back to 1968.
